Survey 16 - "How much overtime, if any, do you do?"
A survey conducted by TipTopJob, reveals that over 50% of employees
will do over 2 hours of overtime per day.
Only 10% of employees do not stay behind after hours to finish
off tasks from their days activities and admit they work no
overtime at all. 18% say they work up to 1-hour overtime per day
and 22% say they work between 1 and 2 hours per day. This finding
shows that people are not only more likely to work overtime, but
are actually working for more than 2 extra hours per day to ensure
they complete their daily tasks before they retire home.
If overtime means you are getting paid, then there is obviously
more incentive to stay behind. These findings could be explained
by the fact employees are getting increased pay (i.e. time and a
half) for overtime or maybe they are on a greater commission structure
to encourage longer working hours. Or could employees just be more
dedicated to their jobs today and enjoy what they do at work? Whatever
the reason, the general finding is more people work overtime than
not and this overtime lasts for longer periods.
